Current certificates, and any certificate history if applicable, is available by clicking the link at the top of the certificate. Please use Google Chrome when viewing your certificate. You need to ensure the "official record date" at the bottom of your certificate shows the present date. TEA does not provide individually-prepared letters of professional standing, program detail, information or verification of Texas educator's certification status.

If your state provides a PDF fillable form to verify your certificate, you may submit it through our help desk. Due to our staff working remotely, forms requiring verification of certification cannot be printed and mailed at this time. Our office can only complete PDF fillable forms and it must include a valid email address for the licensing agency requesting the information.

Forms requesting educator preparation program detail information cannot be completed and your form will be returned to you. If your form is requesting teacher program details, please contact your Texas educator preparation program. Please allow several weeks for your request to be completed. During our peak season from April through October it will take longer to process these requests. Agency Finances. Information will be provided to you when you apply for a substitute teacher position with a school district or education service center.

As an applicant to become a substitute teacher in Texas, you will also be asked to undergo a medical examination. This is routine and strictly to insure that you have no communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis. More information will be given to you when you apply for a substitute teaching position. We will not accept emailed transcripts from you.

Please choose one method only of sending your transcript. Do not mail your transcript if requesting it be electronically sent to us.

Do not request to have it electronically sent if it is being mailed. Duplicate documents may slow down the review of your file. You may submit your out-of-state certificate online. Out-of-country documents will not be accepted electronically. Allow approximately two weeks to confirm receipt of documents submitted online.

Response times are approximate and may be longer during peak periods, between the months of April and September. Once the review of credentials is completed you will receive a notification by email. It is not necessary for you to contact TEA for an update on the status of your review since customer service representatives would not have such information available. The details of your review will be available online in your educator account from the Educator Main Menu under "My Documents" upon receipt of the completion notification email.

If you were required to take tests to obtain the certificates that you submitted for the review of credentials, you must submit additional documentation for possible exemption of Texas tests.

Out-of-state test scores will not be considered without a review of credentials. If you were required to take the Science of Teaching Reading in your state, please submit additional documentation for possible test exemption.

The One-Year Certificate is a temporary certification that can be issued after your credentials are reviewed. This optional certificate is available to applicants who have had a successful review of credentials and need a credential issued for employment purposes.

Issuance of a One-Year Certificate does not guarantee employment. Yo u may apply for the One-Year certificate at the same time as your review of credentials or after the review of credentials has been completed.
